Addressing a Khatm-e-Nabuwwat conference in Chenab Nagar, Chiniot, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Captain (Retd) Safdar expressed his deep respect and admiration for Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, saying that Maulana holds the status of a father in his life and that he considers himself like Maulana's son Asad. Safdar described the 1973 Constitution as a sacred and significant national document, emphasising the importance of protecting its provisions concerning the finality of Prophethood. Referring to Maulana Fazlur Rehman's parliamentary role, he questioned who else had been sent to Parliament, apart from Maulana, to defend the Constitution and the issue of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat. He also referred to recent remarks made by a woman about Maulana Fazlur Rehman, explaining that he had responded because he regarded the JUI-F chief as a father figure. To explain his relationship and respect for Maulana, Safdar used the example of an imam and a follower during congregational prayers, saying that just as a follower follows the imam, he considers Maulana a respected figure. He further mentioned receiving a message from a woman questioning his relationship with Maulana, to which he responded by highlighting the importance of respecting parents, teachers and senior personalities. Safdar maintained that political differences should never become a reason to abandon ethics, courtesy and mutual respect. His address brought attention to the 1973 Constitution, the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat provisions and his personal admiration for Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
