Murree: A devastating road accident on Rakhala Road in Murree has claimed the lives of seven members of the same family, while seven others sustained burn injuries. The tragic incident has left the affected family and local community in deep mourning.
Vehicle Plunges into Ravine and Catches Fire
According to rescue officials, the accident occurred when a vehicle plunged into a deep ravine along Rakhala Road, after which a fire broke out.
Seven people lost their lives in the incident. According to initial reports, all 14 occupants of the vehicle belonged to the same family and included children, women and elderly people.
The remaining seven family members sustained burn injuries. Information regarding their medical condition and further treatment is awaited.
Family Was Returning from a Wedding Ceremony
According to preliminary information, the family was returning from a wedding ceremony when the tragic accident occurred.
The loss of seven members of one family has caused immense grief among their relatives and the local community. The exact circumstances that led to the vehicle plunging into the ravine, as well as the cause of the fire, have yet to be fully established.
Further details are expected following an investigation by the relevant authorities.
Previous Fatal Incident on Murree Expressway
it is worth recalling that in June 2026, a separate tragic incident involving a tourist van near Kahjoot on the Murree Expressway reportedly claimed the lives of 10 people, while eight others were injured after the vehicle caught fire.
At the time, Murree District Police Officer Dr. Muhammad Raza stated that the van had allegedly lost control due to excessive speed and collided with a roadside safety barrier. According to his statement, the impact caused the fuel tank to rupture, and leaking petrol led to the vehicle catching fire within seconds.
The collision was reportedly so severe that passengers had little opportunity to escape. The injured were subsequently shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad for treatment.
Prayers for the Victims
May Allah Almighty forgive those who lost their lives, elevate their ranks, grant the injured a speedy and complete recovery, and give their grieving family the strength and patience to endure this immense loss. Ameen.
