LAHORE: The detention of Aleema Khan, Noreen Niazi and Uzma Khan, the three sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has been extended by another 30 days, according to a report submitted by the Punjab government to the Lahore High Court.
The report stated that their detention would now continue until November 20, 2026.
Lahore High Court Hears Petition Seeking Their Release
The Lahore High Court heard a petition seeking the recovery and release of Imran Khan’s three sisters. Justice Abhar Gul Khan conducted the hearing on a petition filed by Shahraiz, Aleema Khan’s son.
Advocate Rana Mudassar Umar appeared on behalf of the petitioner. Uzma Khan’s husband, Ahad Khan, and Aleema Khan’s son were also present in court.
Punjab Government Reports Extension of Detention
During the hearing, the Punjab government’s lawyer informed the court that the provincial government had extended the detention of the three women by another 30 days.
According to the government’s report, their detention had previously been extended on October 7. The government submitted a report from the Home Secretary outlining the latest extension.
Following the submission of the report, the court disposed of the petition in light of the information presented before it.
Court Points Out Procedural Issue
During the proceedings, the petitioner’s lawyer requested that the three women be recovered and presented before the court.
The court observed that the detention order had been issued by the Deputy Commissioner, but the Deputy Commissioner had not been made a party to the petition. It further remarked that it could not issue an order beyond the scope of the petition.
Advocate Rana Mudassar Umar argued that the 26th and 27th Constitutional Amendments could also pose legal obstacles in the matter.
The case concerns the continued detention of Imran Khan’s sisters and the legal proceedings initiated to secure their release.
The report stated that their detention would now continue until November 20, 2026.
