ABBOTTABAD (Press Release): Residents of Nawan Shehr have expressed serious concern over the alleged increase in the sale and distribution of ice, hashish and other narcotics in the area, raising questions about the performance of police and other relevant authorities.
According to local residents, several alleged drug networks are operating in the area, with concerns that students and underage children could also be exposed to narcotics. Residents say the situation has become a matter of concern for families worried about the safety and future of the younger generation.
The complainants allege that the activities of suspected drug dealers continue due to what they describe as a lack of effective action against certain influential individuals. They have called on the police, district security officials and other relevant personnel to take notice of the situation.
Residents have urged the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Hazara Region to take personal notice of the complaints and direct a special, impartial crackdown against alleged drug-related activities in Nawan Shehr.
They have also demanded that suspected drug networks and their possible facilitators be identified and dealt with in accordance with the law. In addition, they have called for increased monitoring around educational institutions to help protect students from exposure to narcotics.
The residents further urged authorities to review the records of anti-drug operations conducted by the relevant police stations. They said that if negligence or alleged facilitation by any official is established, appropriate departmental action should be taken. They also called for a review of the performance of relevant station house officers where necessary.
According to the residents, the spread of narcotics is not merely an issue affecting individual families but a concern that could have wider consequences for society. They stressed that protecting young people from drug-related activities should be a priority for the police and district administration.
Note: Allegations regarding drug networks, possible facilitation and negligence by officials are based on complaints made by local residents and require independent investigation and official verification.
