ABBOTTABAD: Domestic gas consumers in Abbottabad and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are facing another challenge as Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has introduced a restricted gas supply schedule, allowing households to receive gas for only eight hours a day.
According to details, the decision has been taken amid reduced availability of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and increased gas demand during the winter season.
Under the new schedule, domestic consumers in Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Abbottabad, will receive gas during three designated time slots corresponding to breakfast, lunch and dinner.
According to the announced timings, gas will be available from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM for breakfast, from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM for lunch, and from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM for dinner.
As a result, households will receive gas for a total of eight hours daily, while supply will remain suspended during the remaining 16 hours.
Under the government's policy, domestic consumers have been given priority over other sectors due to limited gas reserves. Gas supply to the CNG sector has also been reduced.
The revised schedule came into effect on November 4, 2026. Consumers will now have to adjust their cooking routines and other household activities according to the designated supply hours.
The restricted supply is expected to create additional difficulties for households, particularly as temperatures begin to drop during the winter season.
