“I said that justice is delivered promptly under Maryam Nawaz’s government; I did not accuse the Punjab government or any institution.”
Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Hina Pervaiz Butt has responded to Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari, saying that if Bukhari feels embarrassed by her statement, that is her personal choice.
Hina Pervaiz Butt said her words and actions had never caused embarrassment to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz or the provincial government. She clarified that her statement, “This is Maryam Nawaz’s government, where justice is delivered promptly,” reflected her personal opinion and the impression of an ordinary citizen.
She said she had neither accused the chief minister nor criticised the Punjab government or any institution. In her view, there was no need to turn her remarks into a controversy.
Disagreement Over Uzma Bukhari’s Remarks
Hina said she respectfully disagreed with Uzma Bukhari’s claim that her statements had embarrassed the government or the information minister. She added that no one should feel embarrassed by her social media posts.
She also acknowledged that Uzma Bukhari, as the government’s spokesperson, has the responsibility to communicate and defend the government’s policies.
Concerns Over Crimes Against Children
Referring to serious crimes against children, Hina Pervaiz Butt said that people defending criminals should consider the suffering of families whose children become victims of horrific crimes.
Mentioning the Waseem case in Multan, she questioned how any person with a sense of humanity could remain unaffected after hearing such news. She stressed the importance of justice and sensitivity towards victims and their families.
Background
Uzma Bukhari had earlier stated that some of Hina Pervaiz Butt’s remarks occasionally created difficulties for her and caused embarrassment for the Punjab government. Hina has now clarified her position, maintaining that her comments were personal and were not intended to criticise the provincial government.
