KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration authorities have offloaded three female passengers at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, who were scheduled to travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), following concerns about the alleged sexual exploitation of a minor and possible human trafficking.
According to the available report, the matter has been referred for further investigation and necessary legal proceedings.
Travel Documents and Purpose of Visit Examined
The passengers were identified as two sisters, Maira and Alisha, and their mother, Beenah. During immigration clearance, officials reportedly questioned the three passengers about their travel purpose, arrangements and supporting documents.
During the interview, Maira stated that she was approximately 16 to 17 years old. She alleged that her parents had recorded her age as older than her actual age on her passport and other identity documents.
She further claimed that she had been involved in sexual activities at clubs and hotels in the UAE. These allegations require independent verification and further investigation by the relevant authorities.
Alleged Communications Found on Mobile Phone
According to the report, preliminary scrutiny of the mother's mobile phone revealed WhatsApp communications with an alleged agent identified as Haris. The conversations reportedly concerned arrangements for visas, airline tickets and travel expenses.
The report also alleges that the messages referred to increasing the girls' earnings to Rs600,000 per month and discussed other girls. The authenticity, context and significance of these communications, including any connection to possible unlawful activities, remain subject to forensic examination and further investigation.
Suspected Financial Transactions Under Investigation
Available information suggests that the alleged agent may have provided financial assistance for the passengers' travel arrangements.
A receipt for a bank transaction of Rs400,000 was reportedly found on the mother's mobile phone. According to the report, the amount had allegedly been transferred to an account belonging to the girls' father, Maqsood Ali.
Investigators are expected to examine the purpose of the transaction, the relevant bank accounts, the travel agency and the alleged agent's role in arranging the journey.
Further FIA Investigation
Given the seriousness of the allegations, the authorities initiated proceedings to refer the three passengers to the relevant officials of the FIA's Anti-Human Trafficking Circle (AHTC) for further verification, forensic examination of digital evidence and necessary legal action.
The investigation is also expected to examine whether other girls may have been affected, as well as previous travel arrangements, financial links and the roles of all individuals potentially connected to the case, including the parents and the alleged facilitator.
Important Note: The case concerns allegations and suspicions of possible human trafficking and sexual exploitation of a minor. The claims have yet to be established through the investigative and judicial process. Any determination of criminal responsibility must follow the applicable legal procedures.
