Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has clarified that the Sehat Card programme has not been discontinued in the province and that no individual has been removed from the facility.
Review of Sehat Card Programme
The governor said that the matters related to the Sehat Card programme are currently under review.
Public Interest Remains the Priority
Faisal Karim Kundi emphasized that public welfare would remain the government’s priority, regardless of which government or individual had initiated a project.
“We will continue good initiatives launched for the benefit of the public, regardless of who started them,” he said.
However, he added that measures or arrangements placing an unnecessary burden on the province would be discontinued.
Background
The statement comes amid circulating reports and questions regarding the future of the Sehat Card Plus programme in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following the imposition of governor’s rule in the province.
Meanwhile, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reportedly summoned former Sehat Card Plus CEO Dr. Muhammad Riaz Tanoli on October 29 in connection with an investigation into alleged financial irregularities.
The governor’s clarification is expected to address public concerns about the programme’s status. Further details regarding the ongoing review and any decisions affecting the scheme remain to be confirmed.
