Lahore: Police have registered a case and arrested one suspect following an alleged sexual assault of a woman in the Defence C area of Lahore.
According to police, the FIR alleges that the suspects gave the woman a drink containing a sedative, after which she was allegedly sexually assaulted.
Police have registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code, while further investigation into the incident is underway.
Police said the arrested suspect is being interrogated, while efforts are also underway to arrest other alleged suspects.
It may be recalled that in June this year, a separate case involving the alleged abduction and sexual assault of two foreign women was also reported in Lahore. According to police, eight people were arrested in that case, and the women were allegedly subjected to demands for ransom.
Regarding the latest incident, police said further facts will emerge after the investigation is completed.
