MANSEHRA: The November 1 deadline given to undocumented foreign nationals to voluntarily leave Pakistan has expired, and enforcement activities have reportedly begun in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Reports have also emerged of possible action in Mansehra against Afghan nationals residing in the district without valid legal documentation.
According to sources, the federal government's policy, under the directives of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, is aimed at accelerating the repatriation of undocumented Afghan nationals. Following the expiry of the deadline, individuals who do not possess valid visas or other legally recognised documents authorising their stay in Pakistan may face legal proceedings, arrest and deportation in accordance with the law.
Local sources in Mansehra say that action is expected in several union councils and surrounding areas, including Sheikhabad, Bareri, Kalgan, Achhriyan, Labrikot and Khaki. The reported operation is expected to focus on identifying undocumented Afghan residents and verifying their legal status.
Sources further claim that authorities may inspect residential areas and commercial establishments during the operation. Individuals found without valid documentation could face legal action and arrest, while the sealing of certain business premises has also been reported as a possibility. However, these specific details have not yet been officially confirmed by the relevant authorities in Mansehra.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that special teams have been formed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to identify undocumented Afghan nationals and other foreign citizens and facilitate their repatriation. Administrative authorities and law enforcement agencies have reportedly been mobilised for operations across various districts of the province. <Cite refs={["turn882164search2","turn882164search3"]}/>
Authorities have emphasised the distinction between individuals holding valid legal documents and those residing in Pakistan without lawful authorisation. Any enforcement action should therefore include proper identity checks and verification of relevant immigration documents in accordance with applicable laws.
Residents have also stressed the importance of ensuring that all operations are conducted lawfully, with proper verification, so that individuals and families legally residing in Pakistan are not subjected to unnecessary hardship.
Important Note: Reports concerning a possible large-scale operation in the specified Mansehra union councils, the sealing of businesses and arrests are attributed to local sources and have not yet been officially confirmed by the relevant authorities.
