ABBOTTABAD: The family of a young man who was killed in an alleged police encounter in Abbottabad has staged a protest, demanding a transparent investigation into the incident and justice for the deceased.
According to the affected family, the young man was allegedly shot multiple times during the incident. The family claims that he was hit by several bullets fired from a Kalashnikov and that his legs were also allegedly broken.
The family further alleged that armed Afghan nationals had entered the deceased’s house and that he was shot in front of his wife and children. They maintained that the deceased had no connection with terrorism and questioned the circumstances surrounding the police action.
According to the family, if armed individuals had entered the house, the police should have taken action against those allegedly involved rather than allowing the situation to result in the young man’s death.
Alleged Mishandling of the Body
The family also alleged that the deceased’s body was dragged following the incident. They expressed serious concerns over the alleged treatment of the body and called for all aspects of the incident to be investigated.
Family Demands Probe
The family has called on the relevant authorities to conduct a complete, transparent and impartial investigation into the incident, determine the facts and establish whether any official or other individual violated the law.
