Mansehra — Mansehra Police have reportedly solved the murder case of a female madrassa student in Lambi Dheri, arresting a woman and her son who are alleged to be the main suspects in the case.
Details of the Incident
According to DPO Mansehra Muhammad Azhar Khan, on September 26, 2026, 19-year-old Hamna Bibi, a student at Fatimat-ul-Zahra Madrassa in Lambi Dheri, was returning home after attending classes when an unidentified person opened fire on her in a street near her house.
She sustained critical injuries and was shifted to Ayub Medical Complex in Abbottabad for treatment. However, she succumbed to her injuries.
A case was initially registered at Lari Adda Police Station on the complaint of the victim's father, Saeed Ahmed. The case was subsequently amended to include Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), relating to murder.
Mother and Son Arrested
During the investigation, police arrested Zahida Bibi, wife of Muhammad Haroon, and her biological son, Saad, son of Muhammad Haroon, residents of Jattan Mera, Labarkot.
Following a court order, Zahida Bibi was transferred to Mansehra Jail on judicial remand.
Saad was presented before the court, which granted police two days of physical remand for further interrogation.
According to police officials, the investigation is ongoing to recover the alleged murder weapon and determine the motive behind the killing.
Mansehra Police Also Solve Two Separate Murder Cases
In a separate development, Mansehra Police have also reportedly solved two separate murder cases within the jurisdictions of City and Saddar police stations. The suspects in both cases have been arrested, and firearms allegedly used in the crimes have been recovered.
According to DPO Mansehra Muhammad Azhar Khan, on October 6, 2026, Gul Nawaz, son of Gohar Rehman, was shot dead in the Khariyan Safaidah area within the jurisdiction of City Police Station.
On the same day, a woman identified as (S) was shot dead near the Chakya Tatore Bypass area, within the jurisdiction of Saddar Police Station.
Investigation and Arrests
According to the initial investigation, Gul Nawaz allegedly had a relationship with the woman identified as (S). Police stated that jirgas had previously been held between the two families in connection with the matter.
Using modern investigative techniques and available evidence, police traced and arrested close relatives of the victims in connection with the two separate killings.
In the murder case of Gul Nawaz, police arrested his brother, Amjad, son of Gohar Rehman, and recovered a .30-bore pistol from his possession.
In the murder case of the woman identified as (S), police arrested her brothers, Abid and Amjad, sons of Mumtaz. A pistol was also recovered from their possession.
Police officials stated that investigations into both cases had led to the arrests and recovery of the alleged weapons.
