LAHORE: Pakistan fast bowler and ODI captain Shaheen Shah Afridi has reached a major milestone in international cricket by completing 150 wickets in One Day Internationals (ODIs). He achieved the feat in his 80th ODI, becoming Pakistan's fastest fast bowler to reach the landmark, according to the reported statistics.
During the second match of the tri-nation series against England at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium, Shaheen dismissed English opener Tom Banton in the very first over to claim his 150th ODI wicket.
Banton had scored four consecutive half-centuries in his previous four innings. However, he was caught in the cover region off a full-length delivery from Shaheen, bringing the England batter's innings to an end and completing the milestone for the Pakistani pacer.
According to the reported figures, former Pakistan fast bowlers Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar each took 91 matches to reach 150 ODI wickets. Shaheen achieved the feat in just 80 matches.
Among Pakistani bowlers overall, former off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq reached the milestone even faster, taking only 78 ODI matches to claim 150 wickets.
Shaheen's achievement also places him among the quickest bowlers in the world to reach the landmark. Nepal's Sandeep Lamichhane achieved it in 73 matches, while Australia's Mitchell Starc reached 150 ODI wickets in 77 matches.
The milestone highlights Shaheen's impact in Pakistan's limited-overs bowling attack and adds another significant achievement to his international career.
