MANSEHRA: Mansehra Police have made a significant breakthrough in the murder case of young taxi driver Mohsin Shah, arresting four suspects in connection with the shooting at the Lambi Dheri Taxi Stand. Police say the preliminary investigation points to alleged hostility arising from a court marriage dispute as a possible motive for the killing. Efforts are underway to arrest three additional suspects named in the case.
According to police, Mohsin Shah was approximately 21 to 22 years old and worked as a taxi driver. He was allegedly shot by unidentified motorcycle riders while present at the taxi stand. Following the incident, police registered a case and launched an investigation to identify those responsible.
Details of the Incident
According to the report lodged by the victim’s father on September 16, 2026, Mohsin Shah had married a woman, identified in the report as (A), through a court marriage approximately seven to eight years earlier.
The report stated that following the marriage, the woman’s parents had relocated from Mansehra to Peshawar.
On the day of the incident, Mohsin Shah was reportedly present at the Lambi Dheri Taxi Stand, where he worked as a taxi driver. According to the police account, unidentified motorcycle riders approached from the direction of the Mansehra Bypass and opened fire on him.
Mohsin Shah sustained critical injuries and later succumbed to them.
Police subsequently registered a case against unidentified suspects and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing.
Court Marriage Dispute Emerges as Possible Motive
According to police, preliminary investigations suggest that hostility allegedly arising from the court marriage may have been connected to the murder.
Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged dispute, the planning of the attack and the possible involvement of other individuals.
Police have not yet completed the investigation, and the alleged motive and roles of the suspects remain subject to further inquiry and legal proceedings.
Four Suspects Arrested
Police said that the investigation was expanded across different areas to trace the individuals allegedly involved in the crime.
During the investigation, police arrested Aizaz Zaman, son of Shahzaman, who is reportedly the brother of the victim’s wife.
According to police, further information obtained during questioning and the suspect’s alleged identification of other individuals led to the arrests of three additional suspects: Abdul Wahid, Abdul Baseer and Abdul Qadeer.
The four arrested suspects have been identified as follows:
Aizaz Zaman, son of Shahzaman — resident of Peshawar, currently residing in Islamabad.
Abdul Wahid, son of Ziarat Gul — resident of Charsadda, currently residing in Rawalpindi.
Abdul Baseer, son of Abdul Rasheed — resident of Tanki Mor, Mansehra.
Abdul Qadeer, son of Anwar Khan — resident of Khanna, Islamabad.
Police said that further questioning is underway to establish the circumstances of the murder and determine whether other individuals were involved.
Alleged Financial Arrangements and Planning
According to the police investigation, information has emerged suggesting that money was allegedly provided in connection with the planned killing.
Police further stated that the suspects were allegedly brought to Mansehra one day before the incident and that weapons were reportedly provided to them.
Investigators are examining these claims and attempting to establish the alleged arrangements, the individuals involved and the evidence supporting the information gathered during questioning.
These details remain allegations reported by investigators and have not been established as proven facts by a court.
Three More Named Suspects Yet to Be Arrested
Police said that three additional suspects named in the case have not yet been arrested. Their identities have been given as:
Shahzaman, son of Gulzaman
Saad Zaman, son of Shahzaman
Inayatullah, son of Kifayatullah
According to information gathered during the investigation, Shahzaman and his son Saad Zaman reportedly travelled to Afghanistan two days before the incident.
Police said that further legal and investigative measures are underway to trace and arrest the remaining suspects.
Investigation Continues
The arrest of four suspects marks a significant development in the investigation into Mohsin Shah’s murder. However, the arrest of the remaining named suspects, verification of the alleged financial arrangements and establishment of each individual’s role remain outstanding.
Police are continuing their investigation to gather further evidence and determine the full circumstances surrounding the killing.
Legal note: The alleged motive and investigative findings have been attributed to police. All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
